2. Work weeks can vary from 5-8 hour days to 4-10 hour days for the  employee’s regular schedule.

HR/Workers Comp Coordinator

Job description
Ohio Valley Waste Service, Inc. is seeking a Human Resources and Worker’s Compensation Coordinator. This position reports to the Human Resources Manager.

This position will require travel to multiple locations primarily in the Eastern Ohio region. No overnight travel is required. Employee will be reimbursed for mileage incurred as a result of required travel.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

- H.R. duties to include recruitment, new hire paperwork, policy training, benefit administration, basic employment verifications, filing, and data entry.

- Worker’s Compensation and loss control duties to include full cycle claims management regarding incidents, accidents, and injuries; and oversight of the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) Workplace Safety Programs.

- Creation and maintenance of proper compliance records, including but not limited to: DOT Driver Qualification files, drug testing records, detailed claims files, and OSHA logs.

- Maintain various reports and spreadsheets.

- Administrative duties as assigned.

- Interaction with the general public; insurance agents and attorneys; regulatory agencies; and operations and administrative staff as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- 2 years’ experience in a similar position or related field. Knowledge of Ohio BWC preferred.

- High degree of proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook.

- Strong interpersonal, oral communication, written communication, and customer service skills.

- Work cooperatively with others and build and maintain constructive relationships with those encountered during the course of work, including responding effectively and tactfully to hostility, confusion, or concern expressed by others.

- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.

- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

- Possession of a valid Driver’s License and ability to legally operate a motor vehicle.

- Represent the Company in a positive and professional manner in all engagements with employees, the public, and regulatory agencies.

- Foster a harassment-free workplace and adhere to all corporate policies.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- The job is normally performed indoors. The ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time, as well as the ability to move about the office occasionally, is required.

- While heavy lifting is not required, the ability to occasionally exert 10-20 lbs. of force is required.

- Good manual dexterity is required to use common office equipment in an office environment.

- Employee must adhere to all site safety rules and regulations. Employee will be asked to provide their own safety shoes.

- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
